President's Volunteer Service Award

The American Chinese Sports Association (ACAA) has been officially authorized to verify volunteer service hours and apply for the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Award.

The President's Volunteer Service Award is the highest honor for volunteer service in the United States. Established in 2003 by the Presidential Commission on Service and Citizenship, the award encourages volunteers to start small and actively serve their communities. By dedicating their time, talents, and enthusiasm to serving others, volunteers enrich their own lives, elevate their moral character, and collectively create a positive learning, working, and living environment.

This program is a continuation of the Corporation for National and Community Service. The award grants certificates, citations, and medals to teenagers and adults who accumulate a certain number of volunteer hours throughout the year. The required hours vary by age, with older individuals needing to complete more hours. For teenagers, consistently engaging in volunteer work throughout their four years of high school not only significantly enhances their emotional intelligence, communication skills, and resilience—benefits that will last a lifetime—but also undoubtedly provides a positive boost to their future college applications.

The winner will receive an Award Medal, a Certificate, and a Congratulatory Letter from the President of the US.

The President's Volunteer Service Award was established by the U.S. government to encourage U.S. citizens or permanent residents with green card status.

All those who serve in organizing events for the Chinese American Sports Association are eligible to apply, with particular encouragement for students aged 11 and older and adult volunteers (who must be U.S. citizens or green card holders). The review process is conducted annually. The Association creates a file for each applicant and tracks their service throughout the year, completing the review in the corresponding month of the following year and applying for the Presidential Volunteer Award for eligible volunteers.

Awards are based on either lifetime or 12-month service.

The award is only for volunteer service; other forms of participation (such as charitable sponsorship) are not considered for this award.

The community service ordered by the court does not meet the judging criteria for this award.

The awards are presented by the authorizing organization.

Volunteers applying for the Presidential Volunteer Award are required to complete three-quarters of the volunteer hours for the award they are applying for at the Chinese American Sports Association.

The volunteer service activities of the American Chinese Sports Association include:

(1) Activities organized or co-organized by the American Chinese Sports Association;

(2) Activities organized by members of the American Chinese Sports Association;

(3) Activities participated in on behalf of the American Chinese Sports Association.
